Yee-Haw! Life In 1st Grade

I just love first graders. They are some of my favorite people! So this last week at school we had "Dress Up Like a Cowboy/Cowgirl Day" to go along with a PTO fundraising event. I opened the classroom door when the bell rang, and in walked a 19 cowboys/girls and 1 cow. My little steer was so dang funny about the whole "misunderstanding". He thought it was "Dress Up Like a Cow Day"! The cowboys/girls loved having their picture taken with him....and he loved it, too.

A little girl in my friend's class was wearing a "spaghetti strap" tank top with a sweater. It's against our district dress code to wear "spaghetti straps" alone. The kids have to be covered up. Well, she was hot and was complaining that she had to leave her sweater on just because she was wearing "noodle straps".

It's Autumn Time.....Hooray!

Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower.
~Albert Camus
Well it's autumn time, and that means another bunch of birthdays and special days to celebrate! Happy Birthday to Tate (Sept.10), mom (Sept. 11), Michael (Sept. 23), Amree (Sept. 25), Kody (Sept. 29), Kimra (Oct. 8), which she shares with my grandparents--58th anniversary!!!!, happy birthday to DeAnne, and happy anniversary to Kari & Kyle!

Last night we had another "birthday gathering" to celebrate!

Yummy in our tummies!
Happy Amree!!!!
What will they think of next? Maybe some of you have seen this little furry friend of Barbie's. You acutally feed it these 5 lb. (not really) magnetic tic tac look alikes by lifting the dog's tail--it opens it mouth. Then the dog actually doo doos, when you push down on its tail. GROSS!!! Bodie sure had fun trying to figure out the mechanics of it all. The little stick in the bottom center of the screen is the "pooper scooper" to pick up the "poop" and place it back into the dog dish as "food". Bodie liked it. Here's what he told me: "See Molly?....I put all of this food in its mouth and then...watch Molly, watch, it poops all of it out...ha ha......isn't that awesome....oh, yeah....that was awesome, huh Molly?!" Let me tell you, it definitely was a sight to behold. :)

I'm On Top of the World!!

Well, okay not really.....but I made it to the top of Badger Mountain this weekend! It is basically the highest "peak" around the area. The trail from the base to the summit is just under 1,000 ft and about a mile and a quarter in length. For those of you who know me quite well, you know that hiking is not my first choice of outdoor fun. It was challenging, not only because it was a rainy day but because I haven't done a lick of "real" excercise since March. I'm out of shape! But then again....was I ever in shape? :) Today is a great day though because I am sore in all the right places, if you know what I mean. (By the way, I love that saying.....it can mean just about anything depending on one's intonation and voice inflections AND it can be used at any time in conversation. For example....."I like tacos, too....if you know what I mean." "How are you doing?," "Good, if you know what I mean." "I love taking my dog for a walk...if you know what I mean." "I just simply love blogging....if you know what I mean.") Anyway, I think I may try to make the climb once a week until the weather takes a turn for the worse. The view on the way up was ever changing with a spectacular view that seemed to make me focus on the temple at every bend. The view may have been even better on a clear sunny day, but the cooler temperature was probably what enabled me to keep on going.....if you know what I mean. :)

Can you see the temple? It's such a bummer
how pictures can't capture it all....but this gives
an idea to those of you who haven't made the climb.

This is my "Wind Blown" look...if you know what I mean.
